A wonderful little fighter as a wingman, Carmody was a beautiful drop kick on the run.
He had enough devil in his play to make him a star and was one of Collingwood's best in the 1935 and 1936 premiership sides.
He later captained Hawthorn in 1942.
Seventy-five years after his debut, Carmody's grandson, Nigel, spent a season with Collingwood's reborn VFL team under Gavin Brown in 2008.
