A big, solid full- forward recruited from West Footscray, Sandilands had a highly distinguished career with the Bulldogs.
He topped the club's goalkicking each season from 1972-75 and was club captain from 1974-76. Sandlilands, who was a strong mark and a good team player, later was a popular radio commentator with Ian Major and Jack Dyer on 3KZ.
He joined Collingwood in 1978 but was well past his best by then and managed only four games.
