We were fortunate recently to have the chance to welcome back to the Club some members of the family of former Collingwood captain and president Harry Curtis.

Harry was one of this Club’s great figures. Having initially come from Carlton (!) he played 122 games in the black-and-white, playing a pivotal role in the Premierships of 1917 and 1919, mostly as a key forward who formed a deadly forward threat with the legendary Dick Lee.

He later captained the side for one year before his retirement, and soon afterwards embarked on a record-breaking term as President – more than 25 years. He was a huge influence at the Club from before the First World War until 1950, most notably steering the Club to six Premierships in 10 years during the Machine era.

Recently we welcomed some members of Harry’s family back into the inner sanctum, including his son Bernard and grandson Rick. We took them on a tour of the Museum and the overall facilities here at HQ, as well as providing them with the opportunity to watch a training session.

It was wonderful to see the Curtis clan back at Collingwood again!
